Homes, and in particular mobile homes, have undergone an extensive evolution over time.

The earliest mobile homes featured a unit compartment fixed to a car. The units had wheels that enabled them to be pulled along behind the vehicle. Understandably, these mobile homes were mostly used by people who went camping or by those who were always on the road travelling widely. This small aluminum house gives you an idea about the homes.

The significant term “mobile home” traces its origin to 1956, when the “ten wide” came to the U.S. This was basically a coach of around 10-feet in width and was largely touted as a very economical housing alternative.

However, when you look at the modern models of these mobile homes, you decide to scrap the “cheap” part of it. For instance, this Winnebago is a modernization of its original model from 1975, and you have to agree it’s just so adorable.
