It Appears Like A Toy, But When You Look Keenly? This Pains My Heart!

Though it might appear strange seeing some of the things whenever you visit the Far East or places like China, it’s not unusual for its residents. Their souvenirs are quite different from what we’re used to in America. I might have heard about it, but it was after coming across an article and this video is when I knew how serious it is.

As opposed to using plastic or beaded animals, some vendors have put live animals into the pouches they sell. I never believed such a horrific practice existed as I kept on reading the article. Salamanders, fish and turtles are some of the animals which go through these kind of injustices.

To make it worse, the vendors distribute them in public and claim the colored water they put them in is full of nutrients to guarantee the animals’ survival for months. I can’t imagine that people who are aware that a creature needed food, oxygen and many others for survival can reason or speak like that. This practice has caused a lot of uproar among most animal activists and several petitions are being formulated again it.

Though people are against the practice, it’s not easy fighting it. Partly because China does not have exclusive laws which are against animal cruelty. The only existing law is the Wildlife Protection Law and it does not protect animals like lizards, turtles and tiny fish.

As human beings, we have the responsibility of protecting the animals we live with and thus have the mandate of stopping this trend.
