In my house, the floor is made from hardwood. Although it is very pleasing, it becomes very cold during the winter season. This is why I have been in search for an alternative which can guarantee my feet some warmth during this period. While searching, I came across a crocheted rug, which seemed to be an ideal solution for me. Another thing that attracted me to this rug is that you don’t have to purchase it in the stores, as you can make it by yourself by following the procedures of Expression Fiber Arts in the clip below. The materials needed are a wool (about 7 ½ pounds), your hands and the creativity.
- First, make a slip knot and make sure it is not tight
- Using the fingers as crochet, make the loops
- With your working loop, slip knot and another loop, put your fingers into the working loop and get hold of the wool, then pull it through the slip knot to obtain two loops now.
- Pull the wool through the two loops to obtain a single crochet,
- Repeat the previous step to obtain your second single crochet.
- Continue until you have 6 single crochet made from the slip knot, then tighten the tail of the slip knot (but not very hard).
- Always place a marker which can be of iron after reaching each final stage of six crochets.
- Start now working with the back loop to come up with a spiral formation.
- Work two single crochets into the back loop to attain 12 crochets this round, and remember to place a marker.
- Continue like this to attain the desired size of rug you want.
